Our client based just outside Southampton is looking to recruit a Buying Assistant to join their busy and supportive Buying team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in a career within Expediting, with a company that highly value their staff. They are looking for someone who is a strong coordinator, confident on the phone and has a good attention to detail. Previous experience within a purchasing or buying department is not essential.
This is initially a 6 month contract although there could be long term opportunities in the business for the right candidates.
This is a busy and involved position where you will gain experience in a wide range of purchasing activities. The role will include placing, progressing and chasing orders, managing vendor data including, prices, lead times and product ranges, forecasting and planning forward stock levels and assisting in the search for new products.
The Ideal Candidate
In order to be considered for this role you would ideally have some previous experience within purchasing/buying although this is not essential, you may also come from a B2B Customer Service or planning background. You must have a good eye for detail, be able to prioritise your work and be confident working to strict deadlines. Advanced B2B communication skills and the ability to build relationships is important. You will need to be IT literate in particular Excel and Word. A CIPS qualification would be useful.
