Our client, based just outside Southampton, is seeking a Purchasing Assistant / Expeditor to join their busy and supportive Purchasing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing a career within buying and procurement. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, confident when communicating by phone, and have strong attention to detail. Previous experience within a purchasing or buying environment would be advantageous, along with prior office-based experience. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience within a global organisation.
The Role
This is a varied and fast-paced position where you will take responsibility for a wide range of purchasing activities. Duties will include placing, progressing and expediting orders; maintaining and managing supplier and vendor data (including pricing, lead times and product ranges); forecasting and planning future stock requirements; and supporting the sourcing of new products. As your line manager will be based in Europe, you will need to be organised and capable of managing your own workload effectively.
The Ideal Candidate
This role would suit someone eager to take ownership, show initiative and make a real impact within the team. You will have previous office-based experience and be confident communicating with people at all levels. Strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritise tasks and work to strict deadlines, and excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential. You must be IT-literate, with good working knowledge of Excel and Word. Experience within buying or purchasing is desirable but not essential.
